Alternatively, buy a permit in person at the Municipal Office, 280 Main Street North, or by calling (705) 752-1410 x221.

Choose a permit start date (7-day or 1-year option).

Island property owners still apply for a permit; the fee is waived.

What the by-law says

Permit required

Open Air Burning Permits are required before setting any open-air fire, including campfires for cooking and warmth, and/or discharging consumer fireworks

Permitted hours — fire season (April 1 to October 31)

open-air burning is not permitted during the day. Fires are permitted two hours prior to sunset and must be completely extinguished two hours after sunrise.

Off-season (November 1 to March 31)

Open-air burning is permitted during the day.

Fire rating — current High rating restriction

Daytime burning NOT permitted from April 1st to October 31st (daytime is 2 hours after sunrise until 2 hours prior to sunset)

Island properties

Island properties still need to apply for a permit, though the fee will be waived.
