Can I burn today in Severn?
Severn’s by-law does not set out what each fire danger rating allows, so this page cannot tell you whether today is a burning day. Today’s rating is beside this, and the fire hall below has the answer.

Apply and pay online via the Township's own Fire Permit forms (forms.severn.ca), providing name, written owner permission if an agent, municipal address, and emergency contact info
Agricultural permits additionally require staff site approval every 30 days.
Permit or approval required (Sections 2.1-2.2)
No person or Owner shall permit or undertake or maintain Open-Air Burning, or allow Open-Air Burning to be undertaken or maintained on any premises, except as authorized under this By-law. No Owner shall cause or allow Open-Air Burning on their premises unless a Permit has been issued or the Open-Air Burning has been Approved.
Dangerous Condition definition (includes Smog Alert)
"Dangerous Condition" means: a) a lack of precipitation which in the opinion of the Chief Fire Official increases the risk of the spread of fire. b) winds over 20km/h or which in the opinion of the Chief Fire Official increases the risk of the spread of fire. c) During a Smog Alert, Fire Ban, or any other time determined by the Chief Fire Official that would result in a Hazardous Condition.
Fire Ban / Dangerous Condition prohibition (Section 2.14)
Open Air Burning is not permitted during a Fire Ban or when a Dangerous Condition is present.
Designated Size (definitions)
"Designated Size" means the size of the fire and Acceptable Material within the fire. The fire and Acceptable Material shall be no larger than 60.96 centimeters (24 inches) by 60.96 centimeters (24 inches) in size when not contained within an Appliance unless otherwise Approved.
Minimum Distance (definitions)
"Minimum Distance" means the distance from the closest edge of the Open-Air Burning or Appliance to the nearest Exposure and shall be a distance of at least 6.1 meters (20 feet) in all directions unless Approved.
Permit fee (Section 5.1(d))
The Owner shall pay an Open Air Burn Permit fee as set out in the Fees and Charges By-law.
