Annual: date of purchase to December 31 of that year
Apply for a fire permit (only the property owner or an authorized agent may apply)
Purchase available at the Municipal Office or the Public Library
Pay the fee set out in the Town's User Fees By-law.
Permit required (Section 3.1)
No person shall set or maintain a fire in open air unless a permit has been issued by the Town under this by-law.
Wind threshold (Section 3.2)
No person shall set a fire or permit a fire to burn when the wind speed exceeds twenty-four (24) kilometers per hour.
Smog Alert / Humidex advisory (Section 3.3)
No person shall set a fire or permit a fire to burn when the Ministry of the Environment has issued a "Smog Alert" or Humidex advisory for South-Central Ontario.
Hours (Section 3.5)
No person shall set a fire or permit a fire to burn other than between the hours of 4:00 p.m. through 12 midnight, unless otherwise expressly permitted by the Officer.
Size and setback (Sections 3.9-3.10)
No person shall set or maintain a fire that contains more than 1 cubic metre of material burning at any one time and exceeds 1 metre in diameter. No person shall set or maintain a fire that is within 3 metres of any structure, hedge, fence, vehicular roadway, property line or overhead wire or obstruction of any kind or nature whatsoever.
Fee (Section 5.2)
The prescribed fee for the issuance of a fire permit shall be set out in within the Towns User Fees By-law.
Permit validity (Section 5.3)
Permits shall be issued on an annual basis. Annual shall mean from the date of purchase until December 31 of that given year.
