Apply via the Municipality's burnpermits.com portal (trenthills.burnpermits.com) or in person at the Municipal Office (66 Front St S, Campbellford)
Confine burning to a Fire Pit (rural, max 1 cubic metre) or Chiminea (urban)
Call 705-243-1828 to notify/activate before each burn
Keep the fire at least 15m from structures, property lines, and overhead wires
Extinguish fully before leaving.
Permit required (Section 2(c)(i))
All persons setting any other type of fire in the Municipality shall: i. Obtain a Burn Permit pursuant to this By-law. Such Burn Permit shall be subject to the Terms and Conditions established on the Burn Permit;
Rural fire pit sizing (Section 2(c)(ii))
Ensure that open air burning in a Rural Area shall be confined to a Fire Pit that shall not exceed one (1) cubic metre;
Urban chiminea requirement (Section 2(c)(iii))
Ensure that open air burning in an Urban Area shall be confined to a Chiminea;
Setback (Section 2(c)(ix))
Set the fire no closer than fifteen (15) metres from a building, property line, structure or other combustible material or fifteen (15) metres vertical or horizontal of any overhead wires or trees. The minimum distance can be increased or decreased at the discretion of the Chief Fire Official.
Weather prohibition (Section 3(b))
No person shall permit burning to be conducted during rain, fog, or when wind speeds are high or changing direction frequently.
Burn Ban prohibition (Section 3(c))
No person shall set a fire for any reason within the Municipality while a Burn Ban is imposed.
Burn barrel prohibition (Section 3(g))
No person shall use a Burn Barrel for any burning practices.
