Can I burn today in Marmora and Lake?

Burning hours (Section 2.1)

During the period between March 31 and September 30 in any calendar year, no fire for the burning of grass, wood or other combustible material shall be permitted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., whether an open-air fire or a burn barrel/incinerator device fire.

Burn Permit required (Section 3.1)

Burn permits are required for all open-air and burn barrel/incinerator device fires.

Permit application and validity (Section 3.2-3.3)

A valid permit must be applied for from the Municipality by the person responsible for burning, through the online application form, or by phone call to the Municipal office. Burn permits are valid for 7 days from the time an application is submitted.

No burning in urban villages (Sections 2.6, 3.4)

There will be no burning at any time in the urban areas of Marmora and Deloro, except for those fires used exclusively for cooking or heat, as outlined in Section 2.2. of this bylaw. Burn permits are not available within the boundaries of the villages of Marmora and Deloro.

Restricted and Total Fire Bans (Sections 2.7.1-2.7.2)

A Restricted Fire Ban, which means that no open-air fires are permitted within the Municipality of Marmora and Lake, at any time of day, including, but not limited to, campfires, burn barrels, outdoor stoves, and the use of fireworks or flying lanterns. ... A Total/Complete Fire Ban, which means that no open-air fires or burning of any kind are permitted ... Small, contained fires for cooking and heat are permitted, but are restricted to a device which uses propane or gas, and which can be turned off.
