Only residents in approved rural areas may obtain a permit. Apply online via ba.burnpermits.com, in person at the Municipal Office, or by telephone

Allow 48 hours for permit approval, then call (226) 778-3636 to activate the permit before burning.

What the by-law says

Urban zone permission requirement (Section 2.1)

No person shall conduct, or permit to be conducted an open air burn for fires, other than Recreational Burning, within the Urban Zones of the Township of Brooke/Alvinston unless the Fire Chief or By-law Officer has given permission hereunder.

Wind and smog alert prohibition (Section 2.14)

No person shall conduct or permit open air Recreational Burnings when the wind exceeds 30 kilometres per hour or during rainy or foggy weather or at times when a smog alert has been declared by the Ministry of Environment For Ontario (Provincial) & or Canada (Federal).

Recreational burning hours (Section 2.2)

No person shall conduct or permit open air Recreational Burning between the hours of 11:00pm and 7:00 am.

Rural area permission requirement (Section 3.1)

No person shall conduct or permit to be conducted an open air burning in the rural areas for the purpose of Demolition Cleanup or Large Brush Piles without notifying the Township of Brooke/Alvinston and or Township of Brooke/Alvinston Fire Department and obtaining a permit in person or by telephone.

Rural area setback (Section 3.8)

No person shall conduct or permit to be conducted open air burnings in a rural area that are within 150 feet (45M) from any building, highway, road or wooded area.

Special events permit fee (Section 5.6)

SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT $25.00 PLUS APPLICATION WITH CONTACT INFORMATION.

Special event permit application (Section 2.16)

Any person and or group may obtain a special permit for a function or event by contacting the Fire Chief of Brooke/Alvinston or a delegate of the Fire Dept... There will be a fee of $25.00 to receive a special events permit payable to the Township.
